Get your mind on your side in the quest for better health!
“I know I should move my body more, but….
- I’m on my feet all day for work and I’m exhausted!”
- I’m addicted to my phone.”
- I’m great at starting movement programs, just lousy at finishing them.”
- my body jiggles and embarrasses me in public.”
- movement is soooo boring!”
Sound familiar? If not, it probably means you have another perfectly good excuse of your own. We all have our reasons for not getting the physical activity we know is good for us-–reasons which stubbornly defy the same old tired prescriptive advice about hours of weekly cardio or numbers of steps.
That’s why modern psychologist Diana Hill and acclaimed movement expert Katy Bowman have created this simple guide to changing the way you think in order to change how much you move. Through real-life examples explained with care, humor, and compassion, you’ll learn how to use the effective and practical tools of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychological flexibility, and radical self-compassion–evidence-based-approaches for aligning your actions with your values. (And you’ll learn how to identify those too!)
Stretch your mind and connect with what is truly important to you, and you just might stop making excuses and start making moves!
Pre-sale books will ship in early February via U.S. Media Mail.

FAQ
Tell me more about the free online workshop!
We all have different values, different histories, different issues around moving our bodies. But no matter our psychological obstacles, those bodies all need to move!
The most successful movers are those who are able to align their values with a healthy diet of movement. This participatory workshop with co-authors Diana Hill and Katy Bowman will help you identify your deepest movement values and put them to work! You’ll leave with 2 or 3 key values and clear methods for using those values to steer clear of your familiar excuses toward better movement health.
When and how will the book ship?
Orders will ship out sometime in February. All orders are shipped via USPS Media Mail
Why can’t I pre-order here if I live outside the U.S.?
International shipping and taxes on books are cost-prohibitive for small publishers! So as much as we’d love to be able to do business with you directly, we’d ask that you pre-order it locally. We do apologize that you’ll receive the book a little later*, but our international distribution is much improved over even last year, and we’re much more confident this year that the wait won’t be as long as it’s been in the past. If you’re in Canada, a great option is to preorder from Indie Pubs here. You’ll also find links for pre-ordering from other retailers here. In the UK, Katy’s books are available through all major bookstores, including Waterstones and Foyles, as well as Amazon UK. In Australia or New Zealand, you’ll find several retailer pre-order links on our distributor’s page. In all other parts of the world, including the EU, your best bet may well be the nearest Amazon, though any bookstore with reasonable access to US titles should be able to order it for you.
(*International customers please note that the release dates you are seeing on retail sites may be different from those in the U.S.–particularly in Australia/NZ)
And you can still receive access to the online workshop! Just pre-order a paperback from any of the links above and email a copy of your receipt to [email protected] and we’ll send you the link.
Will there be an e-book and/or audiobook version?
There will be an e-book available in March! An audiobook is still tbd.
